As often said by our founder , Mr. Hoshang Hilluwala , “ the only thing that is constant is CHANGE “. As the world progresses at top speed , we at Hill’s Nursery , foresee the need to sensitise our future generations to the major environmental issues that surround us. This ideology is the basis of our desire to develop a “ Green School “ and laid the foundation stone of our new branch of Hill’ Nursery at Vesu.
The school site was selected particularly after studying the context nearby which includes a children park, a BRTS bus stop and ever-growing housing community. The heat island effect is reduced by painting the roof with high SRI paint and then covered with artificial turf which will act as kids play area along with the Jungle Gym located inside the building.
The rainwater from roof and non-roof areas will be guided to recharge groundwater with the help of infusion well located within the premises and the water usage will be reduced to 65% less than the baseline standards for water fixtures.
Classrooms filled with daylight, cross-ventilation, beautiful low VOC colours and ergonomic furniture describes the green language of the school.
CFC and HCFC free refrigerants have been used in HVAC system for School to minimise the impact on ozone layer depletion. Also, a huge amount of energy would be saved by installation of BEE 5 star rated fans and energy efficient LED along the life cycle of the project.
More than 50% of the wood used in the project was reclaimed from various demolition sites in Ahmadabad and Baroda which is used to make partition and steps in the school. All the materials used in the project was procured locally within a radial distance of 50 km from site and out of that 20% of the material cost is of materials with recycle content i.e. AAC with flyash, Wood wool board with mineral fibre, etc. All computers used will be refurbished computers.
